I need to buy a multifunction tester for testing 3 phase installations.
Looking at Fluke 1662 Multifunction Installation Tester or
Megger 1741 Multifunction Installation Tester.
Has anyone used these and which one would you reccomend?

personally i'dgo for the megger, but then i always used megger from back in the day of the wind-up machines. have a word with test-meter, forum sponsor.

I have a Megger 1730. Never used it for 3 phase testing. In the 6 years I used it, it was a very easy device to use. I did however, had to send it back twice to Megger for repairs, at ÂŁ280 a pop.

Can't comment on Fluke, good products, as I have the Fluke T110 voltage tester, which provided good service. It was replaced by Fluke however, on a product recall last year.

I have the fluke 1653 I think is the model.
been great, no problems for the last 10 years

i'd buy the 1741 if i were a total tool tart ( which i am ) but pension and part-time small jobs only stretch to essentials (beer, van, and smokes) with anything leftover to 'er indoors for luxuries like food and bills.
