Yeah my Dad was in the Second too, don't think he thaught it was a good time though. He lost the front of his foot in an Accident aboard ship.
Seen a few in Aldi / Lidl & for basics like Resistance / Continuity they'd probably be ok but I would'nt trust them for Voltage testing on AC systems to be honest.
Dont underestimate stuff from Aldi, the wife works for them and i have had loads of kit from there, never had any problems, and they always honour their 3 year guarantee. Aldi are german owned, and wont sell crap, be it tools, food or whatever. I got 10 soldering iron kits for the college where i work and change out of £100, and they have had some proper hammer, and they are still as good as new.

No unfortunately not,
it all gets used and is required, I did have an AVO 8 MK4, but this was stolen some years ago, and I did have a selection of rather more specialised bits of kit that was sold as it was no longer required.
Most of my stuff was accquired over many years as required.
