Apprentices need to learn when they had too much beer night before or they have a tickly cough its not an excuse to throw a sicky.... strange how 20+ yrs ago a sick day was rare in any employment but now lifes so stressful that any excuse and its '''im too ill'''

I had an operation on my eye about 20yrs ago i was give a 5day sick note... operation was at 10:30am i was in work by 1pm.
The kids coming out of school now are nowt but big girls blouses.

Similar to me.

I had an op. on my sinuses. Basically, a lump of barbed wire was dragged-through the snot channels and then the ragged edges tidied and sealed by burning - all under general anaesthetic.

I was told to stay off work for a week and see how it felt after that. Sod that ....I was back at work the next day.

Get him back, surley if he signed nothin then you dont have to worry. People now get away with murder when it comes to sick days, last time was off sick....i cant actually remember... A clatter of years ago....hopefully it stays that way though...

I'm not after more money or anything like that, in the 18 months of working for him ain't had one day off due to being sick but just wanted to know what I could have won't be long before I'm self employed as just my portfolio and am2 left then he'll have me self employed most probably

as an apprentic, my contract of employment was "take it or leave it" !!

Really how quaint, I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid etc. Me no labour rite, would you want to employ people like that, we all have old war horse stories, but you get get what ou pay for. Treat people like **** and they'll act accordingly. Not singularly you out GS, there will be loads of when I was a lad stories here, but please give it a break.

Forgive me asking this bonny lad .. but when you had your Sense of Humour Bypass operation done, did you get it on the NHS or did you pay to have it done privately??

Off topic....Geordie, when you change your signature can I steal it and use it! The barmaids bit makes me laugh everytime I read it!

Sir, I thank you! My signature is crap now! Mod's made me change it due to a complaint!

Me Dad did it with a carving knife when I was but pup bonny lad........then I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down tut'mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Ma & Pa would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah.
