I have been stuck in traffic for half of today and the mind wanders.
As we all know, a good conspiracy theory always has some links to the truth and is difficult to totally disprove because all the information you can use to do so is obviously in the hands of the government/company/group etc. that holds or hands out the information.
What we "know"
fossil fuel is a finite resource that will run out eventually. (providing we use it faster than it is produced)
What we are told
supplies are running out and eventually we will have to stop using them because the little that remain are too difficult or expensive to collect.
burning them damages the climate
converting them to plastics damages the fish and other innocent wildlife
Now, what if the major oil producers knew that oil would be gone in not 50 to 100 years but 5 to 10 years?
a lot of wealthy countries may know that they were about to become 3rd world countries but could not tell there inhabitants
a lot of big companies that make all or most of there money from energy supply would know that their days are numbered but couldn't tell anyone because there stocks would plummet.
most governments would be running scared because so much tax is derived from oil and other fuels.
the social upheaval would be more than a little rough if people found out that electricity and gas were not readily available at home 24/7
should we as people be thinking more about how we can manage without gas/electricity/fuel for the car etc.
the last week or so has shown what happens when there is a whisper in the air that fuel for the car is running low, imagine if it was a real issue and not every day would the lights turn on when you flicked a switch or asked alexa?
P.S. don't take my thoughts too seriously, it is more a food for thought exercise than a real conspiracy theory.
