Light fitting and a bulb is what you plant in the garden, well done for a 16 year old.

Re: My first little se up

For a first attempt its ok, but if this was the real world I would have you re-do it as the bend isn't 90 degrees its slightly acute so the whole horizontal runs is running off and not level, also the saddles around the T - Box would look better equally spaced.

Constructive critisism and don't worry about harsh comments ... better to get them in training than out in the real world. :)

Re: My first little se up

Give it a bit of time and get Used to the bending spring and it'll be better :)
I also put a dogs leg in the condurit to give it a better look
And about the saddels the college is very tight with them lol and for level one the measurements of saddels don't come into play so as long as their on its counted as a pass

Fair do's then but you left us open to give opinions and honest opinions are the ones you best learn off, I was going to mention the dogs leg but hard to see with the photo angle.. tbh plastic conduit bending is easy to pick up and you should pick it up pretty quickly so don't worry there, a real shame that your tutors are relaxed about the asthetics of the task given as this is a key factor to a job looking professional out on site, again for a first go it not too bad. :)

Re: My first little se up

To be fair its actuly one of the best in the class hehe most people didn't even finish it but thanks for the feedback I'll take my time and pay extra detail to attention like making the saddles simetric. Hopefully will be setting up a new board tomorrow and doing a new circuit so I'll keep this posted :bucktooth:

Re: My first little se up

First off well done! We've all seen much worse for people's first attempts!
My advice would be to slow down and take the time to carefully plan the job before you start. Think about how the finished job will look and how to do the best job you can. If you can train yourself to approach jobs the right way now it will be much easier for you later on.

Just because the measurements of the saddles don't get marked it doesn't mean you should just ignore them. If you start striving to do the best possible job you can now then you will get yourself into a very good habit for the rest of your career.

Re: My first little se up

I think that's pretty damn good for a first attempt and you're only going to get better with practice.

Re: My first little se up

Very nice job, again that angle is a little tight. The radius should be no more (or less?) than 3X the diameter of the conduit... If I remember correctly
Trying bending in one place moving slightly left or right and carry on the bend. I did my 90s too tight to begin with, it makes it harder to pull the cable through, remember that the conduit will try to bend back slightly.

Bit hard to see on the photo but maybe leave a bit of slack on the cables in the T.

Some good work, keep it up.
Good luck on your course and welcome to the TS

edit

The inner radius should be no more than 2.5x the outside diameter of the conduit... Found it in the OSG

Made sure all the cables were left with slack in the teebox and left some length in the box in case it needs to be trimmed later on
Thanks for all the feedback and like people have been saying I'm going to try and get into the habit of keeping saddles closer and things like that but also the automatic wire strippers by ck tools are so good haha got told to buy some by the man in the shop and they save so much time and are accurate

Re: My first little se up

Automatic wire strippers are good but it's good to know how to strip cable cleanly using a knife and/or Snips. And don't forgot to double over for terminals that have one cable in but can fit two. It's these little things that tutors look for and if you should ever do competitions. Almost no one bothered to double over their connections

I don't exactly get what you mean by double terminals because I'm only new but one day I will haha and I get what you mean with the wire strippers always handy to have a electricians knife nearby
My next aim is too get a little job doing electricians mate or just helping out on weekends\my days off to get that experience and learn the tricks of the trade to make life easier

Bending the copper over on its self on the end.. I'll post a picture. Sorry, don't mean too bombard you with all this information and that's a great idea, get eexperician while earning and asking for a reference on your cv wouldn't do any harm, Paul. M kindly let me work with him on my off days from college and gave me a smashing reference to put on my CV.
