Just a bit of reassurance for those of you who are about to be assessed for the first time, and some advice for those who are already registered.

The initial assessment takes around 3 - 4 hours. Subsequent assessments around 1.5 hours. They are definitely not out to fail you, they want your money. Virtually everybody passes.

Open, read and deal with the link the assessor sends you as this will tell you everything you need to have ready.

I always get asked about testing sequences.. Sometimes I get asked for the whole sequence, I.e continuity of CPC, continuity of ring final conductors (you must remember the 3 steps), IR, polarity, Zs, PFC/PSCC, RCD tests.

Sometimes they just ask what are the 3 steps of the ring final conductor tests. Just remember the whole testing sequence and you cant go wrong.

Go through the correct procedure for safe isolation. We don't always do it exactly by the book on site, so go through it again and again just before the assessment.

New bits... Seal around the back entry knockout of the CU if you have used back entry (unless the CU is on a brick/stone wall with the cables chased in).

Hi thanks for info .what about test sheets.how much are they expecting to see .I have everything else in place ,risk assesments, waste, etc.im planning on having 7 or 8 test sheets along with invoices over a period of a year for the guy to see .not to mention the test sheet for rewire I'm being assessed on.i only work limited hours as my son is autistic but they are aware of that .thanks for info on back entry seals,wasn't an issue last time .did you still get the 4 questions on regs .I'm not worried about the testing its the paper work side I tend to let slip .thanks in advance.im not going to ask you what you pay a year but I'm paying 1200 plus they charged me 130 just to upload hse documents which initially they said would be free .
