Got a letter today from my energy supplier, saying that they are in the process of installing Smart meters to all of their Customers, and will be informing me within the next couple of weeks, when they will be coming to change my Meters over, question is can I refuse? Your thoughts and answer will be appreciated.

Would not be happy with suppliers having the ability to remotely disconnect individual properties at the flick of a switch.
They make too many mistakes for my liking.

I believe its almost certainly going to be difficult to avoid shortfalls

We are beginning to see a increase in the percentage of the total supply coming from green pastures, however, this energy can be intermittent
With the closing of coal and older gas power stations we desperately need overcapacity from somewhere so that a portion can be stored for leaner time periods when wind and or solar are struggling, however, this vital resource seems to be given very little encouragement
If its not addressed and restrictions are imposed, the smart meter regiments will be the first unwitting volunteers in cut backs

If that’s the case, they’ll isolate supplies further up the line (transformers / substations) not individuals metres, where power would still be present at the cutout which would temp some people to bypass.

If you had been told 20 years ago that you had to provide, at your own expense, a device that you had to carry at all times, that would monitor all aspects of your life, including where you go and who you communicate with, you would have been straight onto Amnesty International. Yet we all do it today.

Smart meters are no different. Data, from anywhere is the oil of tomorrow. Who ever has it has control.

Power generation in this county is at a critical point. What we need is a means of storing the extra capacity from overnight and feeding it back into the grid during the day. What would be ideal is millions of batteries all over the country. But where do you put them and who is going to pay for them? I don't suppose it would be possible to persuade people to buy them and put them in their garage would it? It worked for smart technology so why not. But politicians don't tell lies do they? It is only a common market isn't it?

I know of one Private company which is constructing 42 mini power stations around the U.K. intending to sell the electricity they produce to the National grid.
I am sure there are others.

The likelihood of demand outstripping supply in the near future on a regular basis is very possible, rationing of that demand may entail restricting availability either through varying tariffs at different times or even cutting the power to households if the problem becomes severe:eek:
Been there already with Coal supply problems of the past ...
The rumour was all the rural villages ,were less important than towns with Hospitals/Industry (...Dwindling!)

Years ago oil was running out but technology moved on and they drilled deeper to find more black gold.
