Ok can someone please explain in lamans say a outlet from panel black wire to outlet brass and from panel white wire to outlet silver and ground wire. anyway breaker on when outlet is usedpower from the black wire travels to the brass part throgh the outlet comes out of the silver (white) travels on white to panel out to our electrical station reverses back through panel through the white back through outlet through black back to panel 60 times per second is this the correct way it travels?

Can you explain in layman's terms, what the hell you are on about?

Ok
The op is in the USA, please note this is a UK forum and so discusses UK wiring practice. To the OP the neutral wire may be connected to earth (ground) at the substation. The pressure (voltage) on the hotwire varies plus and minus 60 times a second, this pushes and then sucks the electricity through your load.

Say that 3 times fast then. :smug:

Is your full-stop (period) key broken. :banghead:

It flows from live to neutral, which is why the protective device should be in the live.
The neutrals are all connected together at the consumer unit, or 'panel'.
