Need help to fix a five arm ceiling light to three ceiling wires

Perhaps the DIY ers should have their own website, as soon as some people on here post a question, you can tell they are not electricians, I'm amazed at the type of things these so called sparks ask they certainly wouldn't get a Approved Electrician's grade with the JIB or an Electrician's come to that.

In fairness, it's better that someone asks before killing themselves and being told that they should get a local spark in, obviously a list of conductor colours mean nothing on the web and unless technology had changed a lot, remote web based testing still isn't possible. The main thing is that the DIYer who's asked the question takes on board the advice given. Bearing in mind what some of the questions asked here are like, some by people claiming to be electricians, the responses really aren't that rude.

Sorry I thought this was to help DIYers, won't bother you again. I am not that stupid to work on electrics without switching the electricity off first. I have now got the light working. SO THANKS FOR ALL YOUR RUDE COMMENTS AND THANKS FOR NOTHING.

Oooooo Get you... So why ask in that case...

With all due respect mate you can't expect to come on a forum for and populated by electricians asking a question like that and not expect a rough ride, you may as well have said "electrics are easy it's only a few wires what can possibly go wrong. Anyone can do it". Because that, in a nutshell, is what you implied.
Last time I saw a B&Q light fitting it had a bit of paper in it which contained the words "if in doubt consult a suitably qualified electrician" maybe you should have taken notice.
Can you tell us what safe isolation procedure you followed or how you proved that the fitting had an earth or any of the lights further on in the circuit were reliably earthed, and whether you would be willing to replace your central heating boiler if it were to malfunction. If not, why?
There's a lot more to it than a few wires, that's why there are apprenticeships with hard exams and training regimes.

Why would I want to go out of my way to offer free assistance to someone who's got that attitude?

I see you have also deleted your original post but as you've been quoted you can't delete those entries.

Its a shame you feel this way BUT being rude isn't helpful.......

So I guess we won't be hearing from you again!

I left a pile of my business cards down the electrical isle today.

Was getting some plumbing bits. It's a nightmare so I'm off to the plumbing forum......
