Discuss Need help with minor works cert in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

No we are not having a go , but people actually die each year from people who do electrical work and dont realise what they are doing, now im not directing this post a dredski because he probably does safe work. But dont understand why we should encourage Mr DIY to carry out electrical jobs. I did a 4 to 5 year training to be an electrician , But you seem to tink its good to encourage anyone that asks which worries me. Dredski is not one of the DIYers so yes we should help, and my post was a bit harsh,

I THINK THIS SITE IS FANTASTIC FOR ADVICE AS WE ALL LEARN NEW THINGS EACH DAY. BUT IF YOU SAY WE SHOULD ENCOURAGE DAVE THE PLUMBER OR CHRIS THE CHIPPY TO DO ELECTRICS THEN I THINK MAYBE THE SITE AND I HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS
to be fair eddie, a qualified electrician shouldnt be asking such basic questions in the first place which is why i didnt answer his question, choosing to steer him to answer it himself as it is so basic :p

Always test continuity of the newly installed cabling from the existing circuit you install, always do an insulation resistance test and always check the voltage at the socket and the loop impedance reading, that said I would also check the existing circuit and rcd tripping times as well, check bonding and ensure the kettle works, 2 sugars please, however it is Friday and I feel like keeping the debate going lmao, can't wait for the fun to begin Today
