Hey guys,
Names Andrew, and im actualy from Australia.
Im not an electrican but i am having some difficulty, and was hoping if i could get some help on the situation.
Okay, so i have a Mercury Vapour Bulb, its called a Megaray (reptileuv.com, is where you will find out exactly what it is)
Now, its the european one, ovbiously.. 220-250V, 100-120W flood light.
Ive mounted it in a Porcelain ceramic fixture, and it seems to turn off after about 5 minutes, and when it comes back on its very dull, and will flicker.
Ive tested it a bathroom fixture, the ones where they have the 2 heat bulbs, and it works fine!
Left it in for about an hour and no flickering or turning off.
Ive also taken the bulb back, and got the place where i bought it from to test it out, and it seemd to work in their fixture too.
Ive gone around testing it in every powerpoint in my house with a Flood light fixture from Bunnings (hardware store in Oz) and it only seemed to work in 2 out of about 13-15 sockets.
Does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?
And what i can do about it to fix it?
Ive heard something about a RFI? that makes the electricty set at a constant volt or something?
As i said, im not an electrican, and any input would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers guys,
