Hi guys
We've just bought a house and having a few nightmares at the moment boiler packed up amongst other things ..and were having a new heating system installed..
The plumber lifted a few floor boards upstairs and spotted this repair..

It looks like someone or something rat droppings present under floorboards has damaged the cable at some point and patched in a repair using these chock blocks for each wire l n earth. I guess the cable was to tight to be able to use one set of blocks.

Question is is that safe? Looks like it supply downstairs sockets .
If not what's best way to repair it ?!

We just moved in, and it's thrown a few surprises this house boiler knackered, damp ( hoping it's down to failed felt in attic getting that fixed next week) you wouldn't think it looking at the house looks mint just at that age I guess.

Round black thing in the pic. appears to be a LED driver. LEDs haven't been around that long, and I suspect that if you can find whoever installed that, you will have also found who was responsible for the "repair", and quite likely who was responsible for the cable needing repair in the first place!

no doubt about it that's crap
if it's under the floorboards and long term inaccessible, don't use j boxes. CRIMP in a length 2.5 and cover it all with heatshrink

MF junction boxes are a better option as they are much more available than Selecting the correct crimps and tooling for the type of cable along with getting heatshrink with the correct voltage rating.
Also you need more than one layer of heatshrink to replace the insulation and sheath.
