Electrician Jobs Neutral required for smart wall switch

I would like to install a smart switch in my bedroom, there is currently a 2 gang switch for the spotlights. I am happy to change it into a 1 gang and use the other cable for neutral. If that is possible. There is access to the wiring in the loft. Cost?

Welcome , it depends how it wired in the switch you say that their is two gang .
imo you should contact a local spark
to see if possible.

Can't say for sure but with the given information it shouldn't be too difficult. Probably a couple hours up in the loft doing a small amount of reconfiguring or possibly rewiring if needed.

The tricky part is usually getting a cable down to the switch but if you have a 2 gang currently and willing to change it to a 1 gang you will have enough cores to change one to a neutral. You may even be able to keep the 2 gangs if previous spark wired each switch wire separately.

Is there any chance of you taking the existing switch off the wall and sending us a photo of the wiring? This will give us more info.
Of course, isolating the lighting circuit before doing this.

Depends on wiring id usually estimate £80 to do this.

This is a classic example of that regulation asking us to consider having a neutral at every light switch..

It's the customers that say " but there is a switch over there can you not feed your light from that".
