Looked at a light fitting that needs replacing and the Neutrral and Live were twisted together in the Light fitting.

Its an old house with old fitting but there has been no problem with the lights before.

Anyone seen anything this?

I only had a quick look, but there is only a blue and brown twisted together (probably identified wrong) and no other wires so possible above ceiling.

There was no earth at the fitting either

1.If the two wires are live and neutral twisted together when you switch on the fuse will blow so it cant possibly ever have worked.
2.If the fuse does not blow the wires must be either live or neutral or something else so it cant possibly ever have worked.
3.See Rockers post.

Lol at pedantic

Both Line and Neutral are classed as 'Live' conductors for the purpose of the regs, as they carry current under load and not fault conditions, that's why CPC's are of smaller duration of ccc...As for the mixed colours, where's the warning at the board ? Me thinks the DIY er has been having a play
