wee_ron did you pass your exam with your neutrals in each switch as you said in an earlier post as thats how i wired mine, and im hoping im not going to fail for it!

Change to the am2. Section C fault diagnosis and rectification has been increased in time by 30 minutes; more items to isolate correctly.

I have read the various comments regarding the wiring methods refering to the lighting circuit, ie. neutrals etc, to my knowledge it is regarded as bad practice to bring a neutral to a switch box if it is not needed, A clerk of works pulled me for it once, this was wired in singles however.

Why not bring the L-N-E straight to the light??

not all light fittings are 3 plate, and if you ever need a neutral at a switch in future its their and means you testing and fault finding is easier later on.

I'm sitting my am2 tomorrow as far as I'm ware the spec only asks for one cable at the light fitting and the feed to be taken to the switch nearest the light fitting so read the spec!

O.K the new AM2 consists of Safe Isolation and risk assessment ( remember to ask permission to isolate and put key in pocket) @1.5 hrs. The build? You are given the specs (read it closely) which is basically A 3 socket ring main with a spur (in singles in Dado trunking). A lighting circuit in Twin and 3 core 2 way and intermediate with the twin at the light. A motor circuit with DOL ( set thermal overload and check start switch is connected). A carbon Monoxide detector in FP200, A commando socket ( You will be using SY,SWA and singles). an S-plan system but its all push in connectors in the control box :cheesy:. A small box to box cat5 ( but make sure its seperated from current carrying cable in Dado) you do not install any containment as its all there and The DB is 3 phase @ 8.5HRS. Then inspect and test (fully observed) you test your build and do the paperwork (schedule of inspections etc.)@3.5 hrs. Then Fault finding is safe isolation again plus 7 faults (find them all) but you need 5 write where the fault is what it is and how to rectify it@ 3.5hrs. Online Exam? 30 questions mostly H&S, guidance note 3 and BS7671 @ 1 hr and it's open book..You also have the OSG and GN3 for inspect and test ( just remember on r1+r2 on lighting circuit operate switches and also on insulation test) Have fun

SO AM2 is basically all you should be doing for a REAL JOB.
