Has anyone heard that on a new build now you have to use tray in a loft space to keep it away for insulation etc?
I've never heard of this.

And where, exactly, has this little piece of BS come from?! Admittedly, there have been some jobs where it might have been a good idea but that is all.

Too much coffee at the wholesalers me thinks.

Could well be the sort of thing that a particular builder decides will be good company policy and puts out the edict to staff. Someone then assumes it's "law" rather than one company's policy, and next thing you know .... there's a question on the forum. Chinese whispers

It's BS as far as any edict is concerned, but ironically I have mused on the idea recently. Just done a small estate of new build modern bungalows, so by the time you're done there's heaps of cable everywhere up in roof space and you're almost running out of joists to clip to - certainly cable management becomes an issue.

I did wonder after the first fix if in hindsight it might have been both neater and use less cable to have put 2 or 3 tray/basket runs down the length and just done drops.
