Im thinking of doing the electricians course with ncs. I was hoping someone could tell me whether this is a good idea or a waste of money. I am currently working in a dead end warehouse job and want a career but dont want to throw 6 grand away if i cant get a job at the end of it. All feedback is welcomed and appreciated...

I'd hang fire on any "investment" in a trade at the moment. Have a good look around this site, all is not rosey in the electrical trade garden. Dont beleive what training company tells you, they only want your money, the trade cannot stand anymore men
If you have a job that brings in money and is reasonably secure then keep it, the way things are thats gold. Construction is always the first bite the bullit in recession and the last to get going again.
Its Grim.

Thank you for the advice and yes the salesman from the company said theres an abundance of jobs yet when i looked on line there was very few jobs. One more question if the industry picks up are the courses worth doing and would it lead to a job or is it just a money making scheme. The reason i ask is because i wouldnt mind immigrating to australia so would need a trade.

city&guilds2382level 3 certificate in the requirements for electrical installations

2382 17th edition = 3 day course approx ÂŁ600
2377 PAt testing = 1 or 2 day course approx ÂŁ200 - 300
EAL part p domestic installer = 5- 10 days tops ÂŁ1000
ÂŁ6000 is a complete rip off and at the end you ARE NOT a qualified electrician
Think long and hard before throwing away your money

If i had my time again i would of trained as a gas engineer/heating installer, less paperwork, hassle and probably more respect.

Forgot to put down, this is a great trade to be have, the evening college route would be ideal, infact i was in a sinilar position to you 10 years ago, done 3 years at eveing college, and progressed from there, good luck
