Im thinking of doing the electricians course with ncs. I was hoping someone could tell me whether this is a good idea or a waste of money. I am currently working in a dead end warehouse job and want a career but dont want to throw 6 grand away if i cant get a job at the end of it. All feedback is welcomed and appreciated...

New Career Skills have a harsh sales approach. Since the moment i looked at their website and downloaded information I was undated with texts and phone calls form one of their sales guys. I agreed for him to come round to chat about the course. He was to arrive at 11.00am. He showed up at 09.50 anxious to get in as he was in a hurry! All he told me was how I could earn ÂŁ4500 a month straight after competing their course in as little time as 6 months!

He asked me many questions about my childhood - how did I feel and what was it like!!! I fail to see how this was relevant to the course at my age of 49 years old! I understand that they would want some information on my ability to learn - academic and practical skills. But come on my childhood experiences!!!!!!!! I explained that I have a BSc degree and a Masters degree and my practical skills but he was still more interested in my childhood!.

Finally came the really hard sales push (very pushy!!) to get me to sign up for ÂŁ7000 on some payment plan with little explanation of APR rates and how much this could change or any other costs! When I refused he said I was to travel from central London to Crawley the next day and meet him in a car park so i could sign the payment agreement. He was still phoning leaving messages asking which payment plan I wanted to sign up for after he left my house!!! The whole thing smacked of insincere pushy sales people who didn't care about anything but getting money off you! NOT NICE at all! I wouldn't give them a penny.

what,a salesman pushy,and slimey..never..i dont belive it for a second:leaving:

Hi
I am an electric-electronic engineer in Turkey. But i am so tired of wrong, hard, dishonest and low salary working life of my country. I want to work in better conditions after all. So i have been looking for a new oppotunities and i find new career skills for electrician course.
At this time i would like your help, please:
-How much money will i spend for all??(course, accomdation etc.)
-After completed, can i find a job in UK??
-What kind of a permisson will i need for working in UK??

Please help me about this. Thank you..

I think you would be better of trying to obtain work here in the Middle East with all the building opportunities in Iraq, Libya etc, speaking Arabic it is the way to go.

As far as the UK is concerned I think you may have to wait till Turkey becomes part of the EU as you will be up against many East Europeans that all think that the UK is the place to be ....................and finding it is not

Libya will be a veritable goldmine, i'm hoping to use some of my old contacts to get out there next year (most new constructions projects were already being specced to uk standards prior to the revolution)

As for Turkish workers they can already come here under the ECAA agreement

I've had a few feelers put out here about Libya, at the moment it seems to be all oil stuff they are pushing for, but there are nasty rumours the French are in line for a lot of this EDF are looking at the power infrastructure so I believe.

The French and Italians will carve up most of the infrastructure projects imo. But there's also the wider development of the country i.e. Hotels, tourism etc.. Though they've missed a trick by imposing Sharia law, before the revolution they were going to build a huge tourism zone (forgot the Arabic word for it) with drinking etc allowed (not that it stops them anyway with regular booze imports from Tunisia)

There's also Oil where they are incapable of pulling it out of the ground without help so hopefully will see some trickle down with that

My previous work was with procurement for the Oil industry (after they "nationalised" their UK procurement company) and it is corrupt like you wouldn't believe (well you probably would working in the region)

Will be interesting to see how it all pans out

thanks for your opinion. firstly i am not arab and can't speak arabic, other is i don't want to work in these countries. If i wait Turkey to join EU, i think i would already die.

you'll hate the Uk then, it's full of arabs and turks!

But they have to respect UK rules and laws. Here, they live a wild life. I think you don't want other cultures to come UK.

mate, the locals dont even respect the laws so why should anyone else, bar the benefits and nhs i cant understand why anyone would want to live here, everything costs a fortune you get shafted left right and centre,i wish i moved away when i was younger like some of my mates, the destination would be oz,decent wages good standard of living etc etc.
