Thanks for the infomation about the lightmate Telectrix.

I had never heard of them, they look the business.

on the course I did I was also told that when doing IR testing, all bulbs must be removed, extractor fans disconnected and each socket must not have anything plugged in - is this really the case as I cannot see a customer wanting to unplug each and every device. are they doing it by the book or is this the case in the real world? If your putting 500v through I guess everything should be disconnected? theres also power showers, boiler, immersion etc

thanks guys for all your help so far and sorry for the multi questions, its not easy starting all over again with limited experience in a new trade

Well i was listening to tony Cable from the NIC yesterday and he said ,and alot of us do is joint the L and N to gether and test LN and earth , and mark down on cert that IR L and N not carried out so that get you around the LN ir test , about the light mates kew tech do a set of light mates plus fly leads , R1R2 test adaptor all for £60 notes , ive been using them for a few years now they are a god send , only thing about them i will say is watch the polarity on standard lamp holders as the light mate is not polarity sensitive so you will need to confirm this by doing the R1 R2 test first not just a Zs

Yes that does appear to be the case. I may get an electrician to fit the correct glands. Thank you.
