Hi guys

I Have been asked to install wiring for a new hob, with extractor hood, the hob instructions say it requires a 30A minimum supply, the hood is only about 200w

Would it be ok for me to install a dedicated ring circuit, in 2.5, for both items, or do i have to give the hob its own 6mm radial?

Any responses appreciated!

Ok thanks, I havent physically seen the hob yet to see the ratings plate but assuming for now the cable can carry the current, are there any other reasons you can think of I cannot use the method mentioned, regs wise?

and why a 1.5mm for the extractor.....1.0mm more that sufficient here.....
In a 4 metre run the savings aren't worth noting. And I generally would have 1.5mm to hand, not 1.0mm:goofy:

4MM would probably do for the cooker, but 6MM is better in case of changes down the line, bigger hob fitted etc. With such a short run the cost of cable is going to be minimal anyway.

well that sounds fair.....its just that i keep seeing 6mm mentioned in this forum.....when it just aint necessary.....it also says to me that there are some coming in here asking away.....who cant get their head around diversity and/or cable calcs......

Besides 1.5mm cable is the minimum csa allowed for S/O's or FCU's.

see App 15/15B (BGB) the Note at the bottom right of the page.

reg 524.1 and table 52.3 (BGB)
