Sorry if this is the wrong thread, but new to the site.

we are doing a new development consisting of two detached dwellings and a landlords.

we have just been informed the meters for all three are located at the start of the private drive, 70m away, some one has already installed a 5c 70mm swa cable from the meter position to another box located 15m from the houses, here we are expected to joint the cable to feed the 2 houses and install a landlords consumer unit.
i dont think this is correct, does anybody else have a take on this?

Thanks

The 70m run should be protected by fusing, if it was installed by the DNO then that is their problem and you can start your protection from the 15m position. If the cable was installed by A N Other then you need to correct this, but messing with meter tails is not approved.
So long as your loop impedance is OK at the houses then you should be OK. make sure your paperwork specifically excludes installing the 70m run.

Yep they would. Not too dissimilar as to how, say a block of flats would be supplied from a 3 phase service cut-out.

It'll be interesting to know what the earthing system is, at the 70 m distant service cu-out??
