Hi I've recently looked at a job for a customer to second fix a house that has Been first fixed by company that has now been bankrupted. Basically this customer is going to need a new install cert.
What are everyones views on this situation.

Under the Part P self certification scheme you can't sign off the initial work unless you have seen the various stages of the installation. Most LABC are not stupid and realise that companies do go under and pieces have to be picked up. Give them a call and tell them what as happened and i'm sure they will let you do a PIR and they will issue the certificate of completion.

i understand that you cannot certify someone elses work under part p, so howcome you have to do an EIC for a CU change???

This is one of them things, if I were you I would finish the job and obviously test it out. But on the cert under description of work, I would put what I'd done.

You can normally tell straight away if it's been done by an amateur, and if this is the case either stay well away or warn customer that it might not be as easy as just connecting up.
