Hi I got a job coming up my first new install. The builder wants me to first and second fix upstairs for now and fit the new fuse box so the leb can connect up my tails I leave hanging, is there anything I'm missing not sure what to expect from them, I'm going to do all dead test and bond services any help would be great.

An EIC completed as far as possible is all they will want to see before connecting....Are you a member of an approved recognised scheme,NIC...Napit etc?....It's unlikely they will accept a generic cert thats not from a scheme provider.

they could fit an isolator for you to connect to afterall my understanding these days is its the electrician doing the works responciblity to make sure things are safe the DNO only supply thre supply their part ends at isolator ??

and make sure you get paid for the upstairs install. builder might go into liquidation before the downstairs is ready.

Nice so i'll issue a new install cert with all bondings in place fuse box fitted with tails hanging and make sure I get my money or there will be another visit with my crowbar and croppers thanks.

They won't be connecting your CU, believe me. Not their job and they will be risking their job ifvthey did. They will fit an isolator and walk, check they've got the polarity right (assume nothing!).

I just got here not sure what to do they installed the new head outside in the weatherproof boxes what do I do now then do i install the switch and where in the box or by the Fusebox.

You need to determine wether or not you need to fit additional overcurrent protection to protect your tails or distribution circuit whichever it may be.

As a rule of thumb, if the tails are greater than 3M in length you will need to fit additional protection at the origin.

fit the isolator yourself only around £10 then dno can wire new tails from meter to it, fitting inside the meter cupboard is standard
