just a quick one, I’m doing 18th edition next week but have been asked to quote for changing pendant lights for new stainless steel lights. Assuming all bonding, wiring and tests check out etc, does this now require an rcd?

Yes,had to wire new outside light so I fitted an rcd spur inside the house. There is talk on the iet forum that rcd spurs have a different BS number to normal rcbo,s and rcds,so there is some question about their use.Has anyone had a job under the 18th where they have had to alter or extend a lighting circuit that does not have RCD/RCBO protection (taking the reg regarding buried in walls out of the equation) how have you got over complying eg an RCD spur?
It's a good point SW, but I thought it didn't state a BS number?Yes,had to wire new outside light so I fitted an rcd spur inside the house. There is talk on the iet forum that rcd spurs have a different BS number to normal rcbo,s and rcds,so there is some question about their use.
