Hello forumites!

I am an adult learner (I'm 42) just about to complete my Level 3 qualification in electrical installation. I completed my Level 2 previously in 2023. I have a CSCS labourer card & ECS trainee card and have managed to get some electrical work experience with a contractor whilst studying and working my regular job (working alongside them inspired me to try to enter the electrotechnical industry).

I am currently attempting to gain work with an understanding employer who can get me through my NVQ3 (which includes AM2 exam). You will hear me celebrating when that happens as I will have obtained the necessary electrical experience to secure employment which is one of the harder things to garner it would appear!

I have just applied to the trainee forum - hopefully that worked!?

Wishing a Prosperous and Successful 2025 to all! 🎉✨😃

Hi, there I'm almost in same boat as ypu, although I'm just about to start my Domestic installer course next month and I'm also in my 40s, enforced change of career lol, only thing I'm concerned about is trying to get my NVQ done, I'm in a position where I'd be able to do it as unpaid, but I don't really know realistic time frames etc for that, so once your a little more I'm the know, I'd greatly appreciate ypu throwing any knowledge my way.
