Hello, new member here looking for any advice, comments, interaction etc.
I'm looking to train to eventually become an electrician. I'm 25 years old from Nottingham and attempted to gain an apprenticeship when i left school around 9/10 years ago, but unfortunately the recession hit so struggled to find someone to take me on. I decided to carry on with my studies and completed my A-Levels and eventually went to University to study Business. I've now left University after achieving my degree and had a couple of years of office work and found this really isn't for me. I much prefer to be on my feet working and actually feeling like i've done a days work at the end of the day.
I'm about to take the ECS Health and Safety test so i'm able to work on site, but was wondering if there was anything else that could help me gain work? I've started calling around my local small and larger companies to see if they're willing to take me on as a 'mate' but don't seem to be having any luck. I've also emailed my CV and Covering Letter to the companies that have an email address on their website to hopefully get a response.
Which courses would you recommend i take? I'm currently looking at taking the C&G 2365 Level 2 part-time, then moving on to Level 3. I also understand i'll need to take the 2382 17th Ed, but 18th is being rolled out soon (so i hear). Is there any point in me waiting for this?
Thanks in advance for any responses.
