new oven

I have just bought a neff 2.9kw single oven; it replaces an oven that was hard wired on to a dedicated oven circuit on a 32a mcb with 6mm cable. My electrician says that he will just wire the new oven onto the same system. I am no expert, but thought that the mcb is too big for this oven , would it not be prudent to reduce the size of the mcb? thanks.

why go to the cost of replacing the OPD for a 16B?...
just use the existing MCB thats in there....the cable is protected and you dont need to go to the added costs of replacing the existing OPD...

No point changing to 16A .. Just added unnecessary expense.. The 32 with the 6 mm will still be fine

The circuit is absolutely fine as it is, no point in swapping mcb's for no reason, it'll just end up costing you money

just spoke to my sparky and he confirms what you have intimated, i.e. the 32a mcb with the 6mm cable is fine, despite less load with the new oven. Many thanks to all that have helped with their knowledge. Joanne.
