New to the industry starting my evening course in September, what’s the top three things you look for when hiring?

Hi All,

Worked on site and coming from an industrial abseiler role into the electrical industry.

Curious to see what the majority of you guys are after when it comes to employees.
I’ve been a subbie for the past 8 years and believed myself only as good as my last job and reputation.
Timekeeping, dependable honest etc.

Super excited to learn the trade and work my --- off to gain respect.

what’s the top things you want out of the lads you’ve just hired or are looking too?.

and keen to learn without slowing down the job.

Never be seen doing nothing or playing with phone, texting etc.

if you have nothing to do, pick up a broom.

but the broom has to want to be picked up. it maybe awaiting it's 7th new head or 11th new handle.

A genuine interest in the trade- try work experience with a decent company to get known

Don't mess about on the phone (as others have said)

If you are interviewing for a larger company do your homework (drop in that you know a little about them in the interview)
