New user, ex-service looking at jobs

Hi guys,

Joined the forum for the usual few questions and a chat. Ive just left the RAF at 24, with the intention of joining the Scottish Police. Im part way through the application process, but now need to look at a fail-safe incase I dont succeed in the application.

Electrician has always been the second choice If i weren't able to get in. The only drama i have is that when im searching for courses, there are literally hundreds of companies who supply a course, and after reading through reviews on this forum, have found out they dont include certain parts to the course that are essential. And the other issue is I have literally no idea whats required for what i want to do.

I am not looking to do the full wack electrician course to be electrician of the year, but just enough to secure a job for a hiring company. Are there set things that are a must, no matter what you want to do, and are there any courses that you guys can recommend I do. I am looking at a budget of £2,000 or less (the amount of money the raf has provided for me), and to give me enough to apply for electrician jobs for a company. The obvious thing to me at the moment is i cant do a 24week course, incase the police accept and ive just spend 2k on a course i'd have to leave mid way through.

Open to all opinions aswell :)

Dont waste your cash on silly courses, especially if you are half hearted about it.
