Hi All

Just a thought, while many of us are doing end of year's, and paperwork and so on.

For your New Year's Resolution, why don't you make it about covering yourselves a little more, and making a list of ALL your power tools, computers, and so on sat in the van, or in a store cupboard somewhere AND recording the serial numbers of them.

If they then get nicked, and subsequently found the old bill can prove they're yours because the information will go on the PNC. It's the only way they can tell who owns some of the stuff they recover.

All in all, probably worth it for an hour's graft.

You could probably clean them too, while at it, and save another job, lol!

i have always had the intention of recording the serials but i must admit i am guilty of not doing so. silly realy when it takes a couple of minutes.

Might spend the hour and a few quid having the rottweilers fangs extended

we had a rottie in the yard a few years ago as our alarm system :D we had a 15 foot solid brick wall around and the same size gate. the dog used to sleep in the office with a heater and the door open at will so he could go have a wander around. one night we got turned over and they let the dog out and locked the gate after him. the coppers decided to charge us for failing to secure the dog :mad:
we were told this would be the same if a burglar let the dog out of a locked house?? madness. i think the fine was a couple of hundred quid or something

That's completely --- about face......it's stupidity like this that lets crims get away with it.

Whatever happened to a basic right to protect yourself and your property? Time we got that back - let's face it, if you're somewhere you shouldn't be, you deserve what you get, no?

seems we are in the wrong trade. better to be a scroat or a pikey to get any sort of law on your side. my rotty once got hold of a low-life who came at me with a knife. i was cautioned for not keeping the dog under control.

Yup, often thought that, especially when you go to a security system and find out they can't prosecute through a legislation failure of some sort or another.

Reminds me of a time years ago, I got done for thumping a lad in Penge who came at me with a knife, demanding the tools I was carrying to the job, two doors along. Unlucky for him, the drill case was metal, and his wedding veg weren't.

The law is a joke, to be honest.

i used to work nights and one of the lads was making a brew in the kitchen at 2 in the morning when a couple of scum bags came to his back window. one had a screwdriver the other a crowbar they just started to put them to work when he copped for them. he grabbed one and his missus was calling the police. when he explained to the said person the errors of his ways with sign language using his fist :D he took the crow bar off the lad and he legged it. the police turned up and threatened to prosecute him as for all he knew they were just looking at his house????????????? yeh right. its a joke.

ps don`t forget this one is not in the arms guys so be a little careful with the colour of the language :D i can move it if required

I don't know Bill what type of mugger are we producing these days!! Surely it would have been easier to pick on a little old lady with her pension rather that a burly scotsman carry a large metal tool box ...................no hope for some is there :D

I think the government should sort this out, after all we have training for most everything else, surely we could turn out competant muggers on a 5 day course, after all we seem to do this quite successfully with electricians.

Most of the old ladies round that area would give the muggers a bigger kicking than I ever could lol!

And much as it made me laugh, you're right - currently it takes years of being on a course (of dole payments) to become a competent member of the scrounging, freeloading, scum brigade. They SHOULD cut it to five days claiming for some of them!

And there's my early morning political soap box out! Have a feeling today will be a forthright day!

Hope you're enjoying your hols by the way - when are you back out there again?

fly back Jan 2nd mate, seems strange to go back out but needs must. I was a victim of the recession over here had a little contracting company and over stretch and projects that were promised just stopped so had to wind up ............ahem such is life.

I know that one well enough mate. Had my share of touch n go's too, just too stupid to give up I guess!

More to the point mate how you holding up.

Still upright mate - had some fallout to deal with, as per I think I made a comment or two in another thread.....but concentrating on stuff I can deal with and change for now, head down and all that.

Looking forward to exercising my Scotsman-ship in a day or two! The Legion (two doors away from where I am, as it happens, what a pity lol!) has been forewarned that stock will need to be significantly upped, and the key to the door will be for locking IN, not out!

Thanks :)

Goodman. My lass is a fine Perthshire girl and still misses first footing here in the heathen South. We were hoping to get up and see the mother in law for the new Year but the wife as been called into work ..............hence why I'm up at 7am lol.

Shame - it isn't the same at all down here, but that's life!

Still, efforts must be made!

And having just completed a night of paperwork, not sure if I'm going to nod off on this keyboard, or just keep going lol! I'll see what another cup of strong coffee decides for me I think.
