Hi All! A newb here from Notts. I'm not a spark but a serial self-builder and have done a lot of (what I call) average knowledge work. Where I always fall down is with stuff like below. I do anything and everything I can but my spark's let me down and I need two things: 1) Some quick advice on something simple (for you) and 2) Someone to certify the wiring ASAP. Basically I had an old friend (a fully qual'd spark) wire the place but he's moved jobs and is now too busy to test it before end of 18th Dec (final inspection's on 19th)......and I need it doing obviously. Everything (bar the below) is done and works fine. I've tested all the sockets with a kewtech but obviously it needs proper testing/cert for regs to sign it off. Its nothing that couldn't be done in a good day. So, my question....(I can't seem to find a carriage return here!) regards 2-way switching. I've got two 2G light switches (all his wiring is generally on basis of switch to switch and then out to lights rather than light to light and down to switch). The idea being that both switches work x2 sets of 2 lights i.e. Switch One (G1) does lights 1-2 wired in series and (G2) lights 3-4 in series and the same on the other switch. From what I can see/remember (its been a long day so if I'm wrong I will check tomorrow) the First switch has FOUR cables; the cables for all four lights i.e. two 1.5mm T&E, one controls 1 and 2 and the other 2 and 4. It then has x2 3-core T&E which go to the other switch. The other switch has FIVE cables; the other ends of the 3-core, two 1.5mm T&E, one controls 1 and 2 and the other 2 and 4 and also the power for BOTH switches in a final 1.5mm T&E (i.e. must be end of a lighting switch spur). What's wired thus far in Switch 2 is the neutrals for all x3 1.5mm T&E to a block, earths terminated to switch earth and the incoming power line to L1 on G1 and then daisy-chained to L1 on G2. The other x2 1.5mm T&E's to lights are obviously wired into L2/L3 on the respective gangs. So.....MY PROBLEM.....THE 3-CORE T&E's. I'm guessing the first takes the power from Switch 2 to Switch 1? The other must do the 2-way switching. My issue is I don't know how...that's beyond me really it always confused me. Any advice on it would be appreciated. I need to know what goes where and, moreover, understand it as I've always shied away from this so should really learn in this time!! All help appreciated. KR, Dave PS Anyone who wants to message me about testing please go ahead:ears:
