Neweys must be on their uppers.....

Had a salesman from Newey and Eyre actually come round my house today to try and get me to open an account. Told him there is nothing I would less rather do. Anyone else had any of these guys round?

I work for Newey & Eyre and was very interested in this debate for obvious reasons! It’s concerning to hear that some of you have experienced poor service in your dealings with us – I would hope that these were the exception rather than the rule. I know that we don’t always get it right 100% of the time but we are always working to improve our service and consistency to provide a better experience. We try to find and invest in the best staff to deliver this, and are always disappointed to hear when we get it wrong, or frustrate any of our customers. If there is anything that I can do to resolve these frustrations please feel free to message me or email [email protected]. I'm sure that our local branch managers would be keen to discuss their local service with you and tailor it to suit your requirements.

We got fed up with your random pricing £150 for a maintained emergency light (Cash..see below)..... When Demans (also a rexcel company) are selling the same thing for £8.00 on offer to account holders.

Plus as previously said customer service is poor, our account never got opened because the manager didn't know us..... Well he doesn't now we go to City's instead!!!!!

Hi there, thanks for your input. I know that everybody seems to think you have to talk like you're in an office at all times nowadays, but the majority of people your company deals with are tradesmen, not managers, not consultants and not service providers. We are sick to the back teeth of companies who 'don't get it right 100% of the time' instead of balls things up occasionally, and who then do 'everything in their power to try to resolve any frustrations' instead of getting it sorted. By the way mate, I'm not having a pop at you, I'm sure you do work in an office and so that kind of talk is fine, I just want to make the point that, as tradesmen, we aren't interested in really clean, white sales vestibules with corporate logos everywhere, and some humourless lackey with a cheap tie and a false smile telling us it isn't in stock 'but I'll do everything in my power to try to facillitate it's arrival within the next 24 hours. Would you like a warm beverage?', we are interested in knowledgable staff who enjoy a laugh and call you by your first name, and reasonable prices on your well-stocked items.

And we tend to get that in our friendly local independant......

Thanks for your reply rocker… it’s frustrating to me when customers don’t get the basic service that they need to run their business because we do work hard to make sure that we have the right stock available, and employ knowledgeable staff who can get things sorted if there is a problem, whatever that takes. Naturally I’d like to think that we offer the same local, friendly service as an independent wholesaler, with a bit more clout to access wider stock and support projects etc.
And to RWJ thanks again for the feedback…I’m sorry that you had a bad experience and that we didn’t open an account for you and you’ve voted with your feet this time. If you feel tempted to give us another try my offer stands to help in any way that I can.

I find it frustrating too. You nip in on your way to the job to top up the van stock but have to wait and wait because the branch staff are too busy to serve the counter because all have their heads buried in a keyboard or on a phone pricing jobs. If you want prices you get the "why do you need to know, don't you trust us?" routine. But don't get me started on N&E's pricing system... I never get same price twice and if you query it they can do better than the price you first paid. It's a real shame. To have access to such a huge product range is great, but if the price is inconsistent and unreliable, it counts for nothing. Sometimes you get 90%, sometimes 40% sometimes 15% sometimes nett..... but not necessarily the same discount across the same product range. How are we supposed to quote for jobs whilst burning the midnight oil? we reach for the Denman's catalog.... Rant over. Apologies.

Another thing to note, is the lack of branch delivery drivers! must admit that I've started using Eds more as they actually have in branch drivers, so if you change your mind and want the item you've ordered in, to be sent to site they just pop it on the van and it's there on the day. Having got my account at Feltham I order the parts into branch, then if I want them sent out because I can't get there, it then has to travel all the way back to park royal before being sent out again, I may only be working say 10 miles away so the parts have done a round trip back to your hub and out again more than double the distance. Spoken to some of your delivery drivers and they seem to hate the system as there work load has increased substantially and they quite often can't honour delivery times as a result. I do realise you are trying to cost cut by getting rid of a van and the cost of the driver for a year but it affects your relationship with the customer. If this is only the case for some of your branches then apologise .
