During that time I've been listed on their website, and a County Council system with 600+ schools and all their commercial buildings on it. During that time I've not received a single call, either from the NIC website or from the Council system.
.
Well you need to get a grip, ask the council for the Framework contractors list of builders and send all of them an e-mail letting them know you exist and you are on the framework list, you will get tenders by the bucket load, the reason is because work is so tight the builders win and lose jobs by very small amounts, if your the cheapest you will win work, if you have not taken advantage of being on the county council list then that is your fault and no one else's, just to add before you try to reply, I have been doing this for donkey's years and know the framework system inside out, pull your finger out and let everyone on the county council list know you exist.

Always try to go Approved, it will make you stand out from other businesses if you intend to work outside just domestic installations and a must if you want Local authority work and to be added to lists from consultants, JMO

AC all the way. It might be unfair that more of the 'public' know about the NICEIC than other scams but sometimes you just have to play the game to get on.

exactly, and when you get on lists you need to do the opposite to cornburn and actually promote your company, what a waste, all that work to get on the approved contractors list and the county council framework and to just throw it all away because work didn't come to you, Crazy

I joined napit from the nic and went straight to ac just have to show the knowledge to do the job and not mess up found naipt harder to get ac than nic

The subject of these schemes and which one has the biggest todger, ends up with the self status preservation hiding the reality of this industry and the advise on making a business decision

The Niceic AC scheme whether you or I like it or not is the only one that has the possibility of generating work for an enterprise

The ECA has this status to a lesser extent
The Niceic DI is a house bashing level
Elecsa is an ECA house bashing level
Napit was primarily an organisation where individuals and enterprises specialised in Test and inspection as the name suggests
Napit expands the housebashing level to include commercial and industrial, but they can expand it to include work on rocket ships for inter stella travel, but it makes no odds to the perception of who the commercial/industrial customers both large and small see has the organisation that lists suitable enterprises for that work

If you want possibility of inclusion on lists like Council specifiers and contracts of any reasonable size, then you need make a business decision as to whether to join the Niceic or not join them, the Eca/Elecsa/Napit is not a suitable alternative

Whether being an approved contractor with the Niceic makes for a guarantee of competence is a completely different argument

Go to uni, get an engineering degree, join Nic and Eca and then get all the work as some consultants specify either Eca or Nic ( some both).

Little update on this, I emailed the NICEIC today explaining my situation (new company just started, will be mainly carrying out commercial/industrial works etc) and the reply I got was basically, so long as you have 5 varied jobs to show, doesn't matter how long been trading etc.
So in a nutshell, get 5 jobs under your belt, pay the big bucks then you're on.

Are NAPIT aware they have an AC scheme? As I understood it they just have membership and don't differentiate betwixt DI and AC?
