Hi,

Just say to them , 1 Hour , no problem. When he comes back in an hour , say I had a few problems with your crap wiring; won't be long. Put the kettle on there's a good chap ( Gas kettle ).

Regards.

that's a job and a half! off for an hour max? some people have NO idea of how long things take. If you're gonna quote for it, be damn sure you can make money from it. Don't cut the labour down just to 'be nice'

Customers just have to be told sometimes. That cant be done with only being off for an hour, you may get the cables transferred over but bet you dont find all the faults in an hour when it doesn't power up :)

set up a temporary supply (as has been mentioned already)....just set it up so its safe....get the circuits energised you will not be immediately working on...so you can crack on with the others...
any crap you find (apart from the shambles already that is)...then its on top...
could be an earner if it is planned and executed smoothly

Client needs some serious educating, you can do it as quickly and efficiently as possible, this is more than your average board change,id like to see finished pics too,if the dno lost his supply and it was off for a whole day what would he do,go out in the street and demand it be on in under an hour,i dont think so,its planned works so he will have to endure some disruption.

My missus is expecting as well, hope its not a 2am job, better get some zzzzz just in case, our other 2 kids were both mid night/early morning, bit of a theme going on,and on that note goodnight chaps zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
