Hello

I have a quick question. I have replaced my 2 channel controller on my domestic boiler. The feed to the boiler from the controller is a 1mm 4 core flex that is chased into the wall. My concern is that the is no cpc! the 4 cores are used for neutral, switched live, perminant live and pump over run return live. The gas is bonded at the incomming of the building and then at the boiler it is then bonded to the earth terminal block inside the boiler*
I would be grateful of any feed back
Regards lee

There must be a CPC to any class 1 appliance.....you cannot use a bonding conductor as an earth....if it's not there it will have to be rewired. And while you are at it I would be inclined to check the rest of the heating install, whichever bod did that could've done anything...(plumber I'll wager)

Hello
thanks for the reply, I still can't belive someone has done it. The programer is two foot away from the boiler so I will chase a new cable in. I was thinkin the same and I am now at presant tracing all of the heating circuit to see if there are more problems
again thanks for your reply

Programmer is double insulated but that's not the problem, control flow is spur then programmer which also feeds upstairs and the bolier but no cpc to boiler just neutral, live, switched live and pump over run return. There is a cpc to the programmer back box and then the to the feeds upstairs. I've also just found the cylinder stat also has no cpc, only 3 core. This looks like a right **** up.

be careful using multi cores to boilers now as most switch volt free contacts and you can get nuisance firing of boiler and obviously no seperation
