no bonding--

visited a ladyfreind recently, she has just bought a 1972 built house on an estate , the c/u is the original metal wylex type w/fuses 6 way- , but-- theres no bonding atall, i can only assume all the other houses are the same
ive replaced the board w, a hagar using rcbo,s and 25mm tails /16mm earth and bonded gas/water
funny thing is- the taps are cross bonded, my workmates sighned it off he has t&i

well thats strange as even back then bonding was a requirement and the electricity supply companies checked them out and tested them

Might be a good opportunity for you to drum up some more trade. Offer the neighbouring properties a quick visual check and let them know what you found in your lady friends home and how you rectified it

Good idea didi. we were install down in romford a while back doing a full rewire and new board. put the new board on and doing the tests in sequence, came to pfc=3.59kA. The old board had been a wylex 3036 with 2kA withstand fuse carriers......so went along the street to have a quick look to see if any other houses had the old board in em...but all had been replaced at sometime or other, worth a try though..........

Don't forget the 16kA conditional rating from the suppliers fuse, this was negotiated specifically for BS 3036 fuses!

It also applies to older consumer units to BS 5486-13 and that goes back to the seventies.
