Ahhhhhhhhhh yes the 3 day week, the summer of 76, light and bitter 17p, Kate Bush, Lynsdy De Paul, moon hoppers, chopper bikes, the Escort Mexico, the 3.5 Ford capri that just loved taking roundabouts at 90,

I'd just like to make it clear that I was only 7 in 1976 so my memories of the seventies are really limited to powercuts, candles and a feeling of gloom!

Um!! Ford Capri only came in the Essex 3.0L and the Cologne Essex 3.1L, and later the 2.8L. Can't think of any 3.5L ford Engine!!! ..lol!!!

That was 73 and the winter of discontent, I'd just started my apprenticeship a year before, but as it was the NCB and I had to get special permission not to work to rule ...................lol.

That was the start of the end of the Heath government, and Maggie vowing in 79 never to let us scum bring down another government, well she got that right.

Didn't the V8 come in 3.5 mate. I never owned one but I'm sure my elder brother had one, and he did the 90 on the Great Western Roundabout at Chiswick in West london doing 90 in it, I remember that as I was in it lol

But you maybe right mate about the engine sizes.

What V8 was that?? Ford Europe didn't do any V8 as far as i can remember, not since the Pilot V8, just after the war (that drank a gallon of juice every 10 minutes. lol!!!). All there 3.0L engines from the 70's were Essex V6's, even the later 2.8 was a V6 mate.

I think Malcolm is thinking of the Rover V8 as fitted in the Jam Sandwich.

I will have to bow to you lads, and your superior knowledge on this, it may have been just a 3.0 litre, I'm talking over 40 yrs ago now and I was about 14 or 15 at the time so would not have had a clue

was def. a 3.0l v6. had 1 out of a smashed up capri and half way crowbarred it into an anglia. ran into brick wall trying to get parts to upgrade suspension and brakes though so project never finished. looking back glad it never got on the road or i probably would not be messing about on this forum now.
