Evening chaps,

Got a rewire to do in a couple of weeks, the owner has already had it decorated (Doh!) and really doesn't want it chased.

The original wiring is in old black enamel conduit. Anyone had any joy pulling anything down that old stuff before?

Or should I just tell the chap he's looking at a redecorating bill as well?

cheers

To answer the earlier post about the 20mm/imperial question, I haven't seen it yet, I'm off for a good look next Saturday but I reckon it's going to be imperial. I've done quite a few in the area an it's all imperial with metal backboxes, some more serviceable than others. Luckily it's not my job:D
just helping a mate out to get it thrown in in a few days.

I'm just preparing my "it's bad news I'm afraid" speech!

Rather than 20mm or imperial .....which if a solid system can both be rewired through, I meant is it solid or the old 'slip tube'....younger sparkies may not have come across that but there is still some about ,and youv'e got no chance of using that....other than for switch drops perhaps.

Well, just to doubt even further, i have just been to look at a flat rewire.

Approx 30 years old, above a car sales place, and NO conduit for ANY switch drops.

MT it is :D

rewire in singles ??? he said pulling them down ....so to me u would have to add protection in the loft for single core cable in a loft space.....what about twin in the loft strip them to the drop sleeve the earth tie on n pull down ... dont know if it would comply with your test sheet (ie pvc clipped direct etc) but i would do it ...what you think
