My latest annoyance is this joiner I am doing work for, he is throwing a fair bit of work my way so can't complain on that score but I am getting really annoyed at his lack of consideration for my part of the job. Went up to start wiring an extension last week and, not for the first time all kingspan insulation had been put in place in walls and floors and even worse he had actually nailed the floor down, leaving me a small hatch that only let me into under section, about a quarter of this extension, dwarf walls were stopping me from getting under where the socket, switches positions.

What should have been a half hour job roughing out a ring circuit ended up taking half a day because the only way round to the sockets was through the new joists, some of which were 4 and 5 pieces of CLS timber thick! There were some area that I couldnt drill through this timber and I had to notch a channel with a chisel and clip the t&e in the channel and then he had the cheek to complain about it! He has actually made his own life more difficult because when he puts his sheets on he is going to have to take care not to hit any of these cables.

Job could have been done the right way if he just held off until cables were in, this guy has been a joiner for 35 years surely he should know!

I had it before Christmas , where the builder on site had decided to board the ceiling in the kitchen after I told him I would finish off wiring the down lights on Monday , that was a Saturday morning , When I got there Monday all the ceiling was up , and nailed not screwed had a right go at him , in the end had to remove a whole section down the middle of the room and fish the new cables in , he had the right strop the rest of the week ,

What sort of joiner puts up a ceiling with nails these days!!?

big hammer

I have a special tool for this problem its called a lump hammer. Use it once to get access for your cables and you'll find you'll never need it again!
Or just use it on joiner that works too

Hi , my oddest job was a rewire in a house the customer was going to vacate for a week in return for a 500 quid price reduction. On the second day a builder turned up, saying he was to knock through from through lounge to dinning room and into the garage from the hall to allow a downstairs toilet. At this time all the old had been chopped and a nee board fitted with a couple of surface sockets for us. Was a bit peeved but thought just get on with it.Next day returned to find old lounge door now bricked up, New door cut but brick not knocked out.
I probably should have guessed as a few years earlier when rewiring the customers mates house, same empty house deal. Got there on day one, concrete floor clear , no furniture, excellent. Not quite it was all upstairs filling and covering every board.
Neither offered the discount back.
