I have a fluke tester as well, that would be really helpful thank you. Would the above advice work if I connected a switch and turned it on or do the line and switch line have to be connected at the switches?

If you haven't yet fitted switches then just join Line and switch line together.

yes join them together like turning the switch on and there is no neutral in switch just switch wire and phase the neutral should have brown sleeving on it

you medan the switched line should have brown sleeving
