Hi everyone hopefully someone can shed some light.

I'm doing an inspection and test and upon testing my end to end for the live on a ring main I've found there is no end to end on the live. I've tested at sample socket and at the board. I got an r1 + r2 when interconnecting my lives and cpcs and a Zs. Just want to make I'm not missing something obvious. It's not my test kit as I've already tested two other ring mains

Thanks in advance

No, I didn't, obviously, but you are missing the point. Undertaking EICR's is something that should be done once the person doing it has attained a sufficient level of expertise and experience, by working generally in the trade. EICR's are not something that you should use to "practice" on or learn from your mistakes.
To perform a credible eicr you need experience and the only real way to get experienced is by doing the job on your own,you can learn as an apprentice but it's completely different when you are out there on your own. If he is a qualified electrician and knows how to work safely then I think it's advantageous to get to do eicr's because the properties are often empty and the dead testing and fault finding without the pressure of having to turn the house owners lights back on is a good opportunity to gain the required experience and expertise.

Complete Arse! If you want practice at testing then do it at home or your mates house! EICR got Jack to do with the formalities of test procedures, which should be 2nd nature if you're doing them. EICR all about observation and judgement, founded on underpinning knowledge.
