No main water bonding?!

Just been to do a job at a house and when I came to do the test certificates I couldn't find any sign of a 10mm water bond, there was a 10mm gas bond however.

Now the property is only just 12 months old and on a new estate of 80 houses. I asked the occupier for the certificates when the house was bought, he handed them to me and there is no indication of it on there either. I checked the condition and there are signs of copper after the meter with a 1/2 turn isolation valve.

Am I missing something here or should it be installed? I have warned the occupier about it and he is fine with it at the moment but has no problems with me going back to install some bonding.

I just popped a SWA to a shed, new circuit, for a light & socket.

hes saying yes its wrong , you should have checked for bonding on entering the house ignoring the job of swa to shed and adding £££ to stick a earth cable in

What Sintra is saying, is that the time to ask these questions is before undertaking any work not afterwards.

I know its wrong, I was asking why it would of been missed or any reasons that I don't know of for it being missed. I would of popped a 10mm earth in if I had it with me. I assumed with the install being less than 12 months old it would of been in tip top condition, (I know for future).

It's wrong because when YOU carry out any installation work all bonding and main earthing must be in place before commissioning your work.

i think ill start going to jobs and looking for rcds and quoting £400 to upgrade before emm , fitting a light
