You count each DP grid switch as equivalent to a socket outlet, so you haven't got more spurs than ring connections have you?? I'd hate to think of the amount of cables in the back boxes of these grid switches.... I bet it get's tight for space in there too!!
It does, they're a pain in the 4rse for no real benefit, other than not having to walk too far to isolate "everything" beneath the worktop.
 
For all the little loops behind the switches use stranded single 2.5 rather than solid, makes fitting it in so much easier.

Strictly speaking 20A DP switches (whether stand alone or grid) are not suitable for an RFC because in 7671 only accesories to BS1363 should be used on an RFC. Daft if you ask me.

I wouldn't bother with grid fuses - just cluttering up the tiled surface and duplicating the fuses in the plugs.

The main consideration in this type of design is to try and position the grid as near the centre of the ring as you can. Too close to one end and you have an unbalanced ring with the danger of overload on the short leg.
