Junction Boxes and Connectors : Sparks Direct, Lighting and Electrical Wholesaler
With these boxes now available and companies claiming that they are maintenance free, so there is no need for them to be accessible for inspection and testing. I wonder if the IET have now recognised these.
In the amendment due to be published next year I noticed that Reg 526.3 now included this
" (vi) Equipment complying with a product standard with specific requirements to confirm that access for inspection testing and maintenance is not required, including for connections to the equipment made by the installer."
Like all Regs it can be vague but I read it as they now approve these type of maintenance free JB's as long as the meets the product standards. I was wondering to which product standard the Regs were refering to. Would that be the companies who manufacter these or a BS EN standard
