I have just replaced a number of socket fronts in a property like for like - therefore non part P.

They want an insulation certificate, which I have no problem with. I am therefore giving them a miner works certificate, do I need to include the Scheduled Inspection Sheets for socket front covers as well as the test results or are they not required in this case?

I will be coming back in a weeks time to change the CU where all the tests will be done then.

I have tested each socket as I fitted them individuality, and know they are all up to standard.

Thanks in advance

The on site guide shows what is required for minor works. Schedules and results are for an EIC.

btw. I think darkwood was taking the p about you mistyping installation ;)

Like the loft insulation its still over your head!!!! (Installation Cert' may be a better choice of word)

Just seen what you ment - not insulation - but installation - lol - typo

Im actually using the Electrical installation Cert, instead of the minor - already written out - lol

I just need to know if I should complete test results and test certs as the property is on the old CU, no RCD, old fuses. I put a CU change as a recommendation, which they booked with me for a few weeks time after I done my assessment.

I have done the earth loop, line conductor, insulation and voltage test on everything and got all the results to hand now if I need them

Why are you supplying a certificate for changing socket fronts?

I'd just write out what work you had done on your invoice to them.

They wanted a certificate, dont know why.
I think it might have something to do with them selling the house in the future - they want a cert, Im not going to question it - I did offer to put both the socket faces and CU change on the same one, but they didnt want that - I dont care to be honest - more money for me as I spent another hour doing the tests after - another £15 in my pocket for such an easy job.

It is a minor works , i know its only the socket front you have changed and not altered the installation but how do you know a wire has not poped out when you put the face plates back on , having said that i do tend to use an EIC when its a ring main , you should change the board before your assesment you can then use it as a sample install

I got that bit. It's the annoyance about how misinformed people are about Part P and certification of electrical work in their homes.

I'd be willing to wager that the OP's customer thinks that they HAVE to have a cert for the work.

Napit wants more than just a CU change - plus I have my own CU change and an additional circuit into a cupboard where my dryer is, they will be happy with that.

As Napit only wants 1 job, I would rather take them to my house instead of a customers.

This costumer is very picky as well, she already picked up that Im waiting for my assessment when she asked for my reg number - took a while to explain that front socket changes are not under Part P, and dont require a cert, but she insisted in the min of a cert.

She is the type that wont even change a plug herself, she asked me to do it - I dont care its all money - did think about sending my misses to change the plug mind - lol
