I set up my company this year and want to make sure im doing this right do i just need to notify a job when i have added a new circuit or bonding or worked in a special location?

download the part p doc. it tells you what is and isn't notifiable. your scam provider should also have a leaflet telling you. it's basically any new cct., a CU change, work in a special location, outside work, that needs notifying.

I would, when in doubt I would issue one, it covers your behind.

If your going to replace any equipment or accessories you will want to test it after to ensure its in same working condition so not much extra effort to fill a couple of lines out on a sheet.

thought as much cheers also the thing i was wondering was do you have to issue a minor works for the likes of changing a socket front or swapping a light fitting?
replacement of fittings without modifying a circuit does not require certification, however, as above, it a good idea to test and issue a MWC to cover your back. customer cannot say then that when another part of the installation, which you have not touched, goes wrong, it's your fault.

napit definitely do a doc. telling you what's what as regards notifiable jobs. get on the phone . make 'em earn the ÂŁ500 they've scammed off you.

Most of the time its the testing of a RFC or a lighting circuit that will most certainly put people of issuing a MWC.

20 min job to swap over a socket front or 2 then having to test the CCT, hoping you don't open a can of worms.

Agree thought regards doing a cert.

Only reason I asked about who you are registered with is because Elecsa have a list of what is and isn't notifiable.

but what do you do when the customer does not want certification. no i dont want one thank you i dont want the council notified at all.

This is what i mean. Lets face it, if a punter calls you saying they need a socket or pendant replacing, are they going to be wanting to pay for how long it takes to do the job then test and certify properly??
