Question has been raised about whether we notify DNO of air conditioner installation. NICEIC registered electrician doing the installation certificate says these Daikin 14kw units might be classed as heat pumps. we have never notified before, so are asking for anyone who has experienced this. the DNO says it is up to us to determine whether they are heat pumps or not. Some of Daikins literature refers to them as heat pumps.

I think anything that size would need notified to a DNO…
If a car charger at half the size needs to be notified, then surely 14kW would.

but if there’s no structure in place at the DNO to report it, then it mustn’t be a requirement yet.

If it's a heat pump, then it will need dno approval.

What's the model number ?

Oh of course. Me having a blonde moment.

That’s like saying a 30kW combi boiler off a 3A fuse…

Then, no… it’s unlikely this needs DNO notification/approval.
Out of curiosity, what’s the supply? 16A to each of them?
