Shortly, I will be undertaking a CU change on my own property - as a NICEIC inspection job.

Obviously, I want to make sure that everything is tickety-boo and above board. Like all CU changes, the 'do I pull the fuse' dilemma looms large. My personal preference is to abide by the rules so, today, I rang the DNO to enquire what they charge to visit and fit an isolating switch.

Their answer was a real surprise - nowt!! They'll fit for free!!! Even narrowed the appointment down to a 2 hour slot!!! All booked in

But, I understand that in certain parts of my county, they do!!

Still feels good to get something for nothing (even if I am due it) LoL!!

Handy to know that some DNO's charge and some don't. I am also with Eon and about to move (about 6 foot to accommodate a porch) and change the CU, so we'll see what happens there.

£39.00 here, but they charge a fortune for other jobs £895 + VAT to move a meter to an outside box , because they have to go up the pole to isolate , ye right simple job easy run , they came they did it live and took less than an hour

That's what I am having done, having the meter moved to an outside box and the CU in the porch. Well I will know soon enough.

I had to read your post twice to believe that I wasn't getting it screwed up

I immediately saw the profit motive for them missing their appointments as a matter of course,what an earner for them
