Now, I Wasn't Expecting That!!!

Shortly, I will be undertaking a CU change on my own property - as a NICEIC inspection job.

Obviously, I want to make sure that everything is tickety-boo and above board. Like all CU changes, the 'do I pull the fuse' dilemma looms large. My personal preference is to abide by the rules so, today, I rang the DNO to enquire what they charge to visit and fit an isolating switch.

Their answer was a real surprise - nowt!! They'll fit for free!!! Even narrowed the appointment down to a 2 hour slot!!! All booked in:)

Very happy.

£40 .88 here in yorkshire

Its gone up a bit then, used to be £35. What about a PME connection then, yes sir, certainly, we will charge you £137 plus VAT to stick a bit of 16mm earth cable into your neutral and fit an earth block as well. How generous of them, i am in the wrong job.

Cheers........Howard

That'll be you then, being a PROPER spark and all, what with the 2391 under your belt.

By your wording Im not a "Proper spark" as I dont have 2391 ?? but as an experienced spark with loads of experience i certainly dont see how 2391 can or says its ok to break the law by interfeering with DNO equipment 2391 doesnt cover removal of DNO fuses nor does it cover the dangers associated with doing so Its just a matter of time before someone gets well and truley hurt when "just pulling "cable head fuse I HAVE Been trained in this for council street lighting and during the course 2 days we werre shown a lot of things to watch out for and a good few ""Accidents" as a result of "Just pulling the fuse"

That was my point. Read the whole thread again dude. Try imagining me typing my first response with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek.

It doesn't cover removal of DNO fuses because you're not meant to do it!

Sorry I forgot what this thread was actually about as I became engrossed in the bitching lmao :D[/QUOTE

Electricalserv is the reason for all the bitching on this site due his disrespectful and know it all attitude.

Same crowd can't take that you don't have to be JIB registered to work in this trade and call yourself a spark!

The problem is if it wasn't true you lot would have laughed me off the site, but the nerves have been well & truely hit. The fact that its only the JIB who ask for AM2 or NVQ3.

I mean if the quals where rocket science I'd be with you but unfortunately there not as proven by the passing of voltzelectrical & alike!

I actually chuckled like a little kid whilst reading this thread cheers guys.

In the past i use to just "pull the fuse" with my farmer hedge strimming face mask and my iron chain gauntlets.

Oh and now i just change CU's with Live tails.

I'M JOKING OK??? :)

Some people need to gain a sense of humour and spot tongue in cheek sarcasm.

We're all in the same boat we friken hate DNO's.

Amen
