hey guys, ive just completed my level 2 and level 3 city and guilds 2330 with Trade Skills 4U in crawley

any ideas as to where i should head next? i have no experience in the field and my grades were relatively ok throughout my exams im just wondering now that im finished what sort of work should i look for? what to expect from an employer?

thanks

nick

just a quick couple of questions

if i wanted to do my nvq, would most employers enable me to do so? Say for example, big companies like british gas???? I realize that i need experience and figure that if i go for a large company i would be able to get the experience rather than be pigeon holed into just one area of work and be stuck doing that... (ie domestic or installing meters)

i basically want to be able to keep my options open for if one day i wanted to start a business or work for a much bigger firm..

as i have just finished my level 2 + 3 i am still a little unclear as to where i want to go or where to start for that matter...

what sort of employer am i looking for? And will most employers consider the fact that i am still new at this and mentor me up to standard?

thanks guys

nick

Napit will allow you to join with just 2330 level 2 as long as you do 2391 and 17th within 12 months of joining. Dont need part P. Also im told part P is a gonner this year by a mate that phoned up some organisation. IET or something? I never asked if i could get away with a 2392 but apparently its easier than 2391 .. maybe just for domestic? Oh and you dont need the 2356 .. shocking eh .

Part P won't be going anywhere, there may be changes to it following the current review but it'll still be an integral part of the building regs.

you are stuck between the inevitable rock and hard place as are most people who try to gain entry into the trade without a full apprenticeship'

you have two options
1. try and go it alone (not as easy as it sounds especially in todays climate) and learn along the way.
2. get in with a firm or another spark and work as mate/labourer.

go for the nvq3 while available along with 17th and 2391 then that pretty much covers the qualification route (and will give you a lot more of usefull stuff to know instead of the "mainly" rubbish taught on the 2330.

it can be done just keep at it till your break comes and it will sooner or later.
